I was born and raised in Southern California. I moved to Santa Barbara to attend UC Santa Barbara and have made Santa Barbara my home for more than 40 years. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a B.A., I followed a rewarding career path at UC Santa Barbara. I attended night school at the Santa Barbara College of Law and received my Juris Doctor in 1993. I became a licensed attorney and member of the California State Bar in 1994. I bought a home and moved to the Goleta Valley 18 years ago to raise a family. My teenager, Roz, is now a Senior at San Marcos High School and is active in student clubs and social justice organizations in the community.

I have over 36 years of public service at the University of California with a demonstrated record of success in developing strategies and pro-active solutions in challenging situations. I am recognized as an innovative and engaging trainer. The positions I have held during my career include Manager, Employee & Labor Relations, Whistleblower Investigations Coordinator, ADA Compliance Officer and Sexual Harassment Prevention Educator.
I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Goleta Water District in November 2020, having already served two years after being appointed to the Board to fill a vacancy in November 2018. The Board of Directors is responsible for the formulation and evaluation of district policy as well as oversight of the general management of the District. The Goleta Water District serves water to approximately 87,000 people, including agricultural, residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. I am currently serving as Vice President of the Board, Chair of the District-Based Election Committee and as a member of the Public Information Committee.
I have been representing the Goleta Water District on the Central Coast Water Authority (CCWA) since January 2019. The Central Coast Water Authority is a joint powers authority comprising eight member agencies, including Goleta Water District, that was formed to construct, manage and operate Santa Barbara county’s local facilities for distribution and treatment of State Water. I am currently serving as a member of the Finance Committee.
I was appointed in January 2020 to serve on the Board of Trustees of The Colleges of Law. The Board of Trustees is responsible for oversight of crucial policy decisions for academic affairs, institutional advancement, student services, and business and financial affairs. The mission of the Colleges of Law is to provide access to law and law-related professions for the modern student. The College has been a pioneer in modernizing legal education and now offers online and blended format courses to make a legal education accessible and affordable for students. I am currently serving as Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee.
